This year’s Christmas Service will be our final Jesus. All about life event for 2009 and a celebration of Jesus birth, death and resurrection. Christmas Services are very relaxed and real at Chatswood Adventist Church, and we’d love you to join us for this and a scrummy vegetarian lunch to follow.

A few years ago I received some very confronting news which in all honesty, broke my heart. I don’t think I’d ever been so confronted up until that time, and even as I write, just the thought of such sadness still makes my tummy turn.

As I think about what happened next however, again the same feelings flow, but this time feelings of amazement, awe, gratitude, significance, love. I guess that’s what I feel every time God speaks to me like He did back then, but seriously, can you imagine what it would be like to be in the midst of such sorrow and have the words, ”Psalms 34:18″ come into your head. Okay, so I didn’t know what Psalms 34:18 said at the time either but when I opened my Bible and found, “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves those crushed in spirit,” my pain was somehow muted. I instantly had hope.

Be ye prepared for the best pancakes north of The Rocks! You can also look forward to native seedling give-aways; nutrition information; face-painting, balloons, singing and stories for kids; information about a parenting course for 0-4 yos; and general crazy fun! This is a community event and free to all. Find us in the carpark on the corner of Johnson and Devonshire Sts, Chatswood!

Please note that our usual Saturday morning Kids’ Club and Adult Bible Study will not be happening this Saturday however our 11.00am Worship Service will proceed as normal.

Stories. Fun. Music. Craft. Food. Care. Play. All this plus an awesome opportunity for parents to connect with other parents! Starts next Wednesday, October 7 and ends Saturday, October 10. Another community event that is free to all. Love to meet you and your kiddy/ies there!

Next Saturday it’s Dr John Hartnett and Creation Ministries International on the corner of Johnson and Devonshire Sts, Chatswood. Dr Hartnett will present during our 11.00am Worship Service and then screen the movie, The Voyage that Shocked the World at 2.30pm. This movie traces Darwin’s journey, exploring the places and discoveries crucial to developing his Theory of Evolution. Both the presentation and screening are community events and free to all. A scrummy vegetarian lunch will be provided!

About a month ago I mentioned that Chatswood Adventist Church will be participating in the Bible Society’s Jesus. All about life campaign and we are seriously excited about this. What follows is the heads up on some of the things we will be doing during this campaign so others can learn of and experience the abundant life that Jesus promised.

JAAL Sermon Series – Sat, 11.00am-12.15pm

As of September 15 of this year, Chatswood Seventh-day Adventist Church will be joining thousands of other Christian churches in a six week media campaign to prompt the people of NSW to think about Jesus. Our earnest desire is for people to come to know who Jesus is and what He said, with the hope that they too might come to live life to the full! (John 10:10)

In place or our usual Testimony Day this Saturday, Endless Praise, a Christian contemporary music band, will be hosting our Worship Service. Endless Praise regularly tour churches, schools and community events and this weekend it’s Chatswood Seventh-day Adventist Church! Love you to join us for this event plus a scrummy Potluck lunch to follow!

This Saturday the Covenant Players, a full-time Christian ministry and professional theatre company, will be performing during our Worship Service. Last year we invited the Covenant Players to perform for our Easter Service and this year they are back to challenge our thinking on what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ.
